Comm372T: Media Curation One
Media Depictions
For this project, we were assigned to use a piece of media (Tv show, Movie, Music Video, Ect.) and determine how the new media technology that is shown in the clip represents either a dystopia or utopian society. For this project, I chose to use a clip from the DC CW show supergirl in which the CEO of obsidian tech uses contact lenses that have been modified through the use of digital technology in order to persuade people that they will be able to see their dead loved ones again. I thought this would be an example of a utopian society because she is promising her consumer something that no one was able to accomplish before. Instagram Analysis
For this project, we were tasked with picking a person on Instagram (influencer, celebrity, someone we know, or even ourselves) who has 1,000 followers or more and to write a brief 200-word description of how the account depicts said person and what their feed says about that person as a whole. For this assignment, I chose an influencer whom I follow named Kennie JD. She covers makeup as well as other themes on her Instagram page. Youtube Anaylasis
For this project, I was tasked with curating a youtube creator who has at least 50,000 followers. Then write a 200-word description of how that creator builds a relationship with his or her audiences and how the content on the channel taps into the focus on “intimacy and authenticity” outlined by Petersen and common among successful YouTube creators. For this assignment, I chose a creator whose channels I am subscribed to named Stephanie Soo. She talks about makeup and her daily life as well as other themes on her Youtube Channel. She also has a second channel where she does mukbangs and tells the audience mostly crime-related stories that she researches about in her spare time. Media History
For this project, I was assigned to write a detailed essay describing my personal use of media throughout my life. This was archived by the use of personal pictures from my childhood that helps as a visual aid when reading this assignment.

For this piece, I was assigned to write a paper in a genre in that I didn't have much experience. For that reason I chose poetry. In this document, Most of the poems that you will read were written when I was still in high school.
